A Balassagyarmati Fegyház és Börtön büszkesége a fogvatartotti művészetterápiás programmal felújított börtönkápolna, amely szinte egyidős az épülettel. Az elítéltek freskói különféle bibliai történeteket ábrázolnak, főleg a megbánás, a bűn és bűnhődés témakörében.
